In the Mumbai T20 League final, Shreyas Iyer's SoBo Mumbai Falcons lose.
The Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals beat Shreyas Iyer's SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the Mumbai T20 League final on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium. This was Iyer's second straight loss as a T20 captain, especially considering that it happened just ten days after Punjab Kings (PBKS) lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 championship match in Ahmedabad.
Shreyas Iyer only managed 12 runs off of 17 when SoBo was
put in to bat and made 157. Under the leadership of Siddhesh Lad, the Maratha
Royals reached the goal with six wickets remaining and four balls remaining.
Iyer had only scored 62 runs in five innings, with a best of 25, by the end of
the tournament.
After the final, Iyer stated, "I don't want to point
fingers at any specific incident - overall, the boys were brilliant with their
effort." "On the way to the final, we only dropped one game. No one
can be singled out in this one-off game. Criticizing someone is like
backstabbing, and I don't like that.
Feeling depressed following a final loss is rather usual.
The players must be injured. But they will be more motivated and self-assured
when they return the next year. They ought to be pleased with their work.
As captain, Iyer has had a fantastic and very successful
tenure. He led the Kolkata Knight Riders to their first IPL title in ten years
in 2024 and led Mumbai to victory in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy prior to
reaching the IPL 2025 final and the Mumbai T20 League final. He participated in
Mumbai's winning campaigns in the Ranji Trophy 2023–24 and the ensuing Irani
Cup. He was also a key player in India's quest to win the Champions Trophy in
March of this year.
